The Atomic Multi-directional Impact Deflector (AMID) is a revolutionary dual-density foam system that provides up to 40% higher impact protection than industry safety standards.
HYBRID CONSTRUCTION
Hybrid shells combine the best of both worlds in helmet construction. The upper part is ABS hard-shell for extra stability and protection. The lower part is in-mold to keep the weight down.
MULTI-NORM CERTIFIED
Multi-Norm certified means that the Backland helmet meets safety requirements for skiing (EN 1077:2007), climbing (EN 12492:2012), and cycling (EN 1078:2012, CPSC 1203). No more swapping helmets on multi-sport days! Take the Backland helmet on any adventure, all year round.
RECYCLED LINER FABRIC
Our liners use a recycled material certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). GRS is the international standard for responsible recycling chains and aims to increase the use of recycled materials, decrease the use of chemicals and improve materials’ social and environmental impact.
REFLECTIVE ELEMENT
The Backland Helmet features a special Reflective Element at the back that delivers high visibility protection. Great for late-night bike rides or night tours.

The Atomic Backland series has always been about quality, accessible touring gear for every skier – and the Backland helmet is exactly that. It’s safety, comfort and performance in perfect balance: the helmet comes with a Full Cap Ski lining and a breathable Skimo lining which means you’re covered from deep winter to high summer (the helmet is also multi-norm certified for skiing, climbing and cycling). Holocore and AMID (Atomic Multi-directional Impact Deflector) provide up to 40% higher impact protection than industry safety standards. Then the Hybrid EPP In-Mold shell construction is durable, lightweight and supremely safe, with PC Microshells added for structural reinforcement without bulk. And like all Backland helmets it comes with the little details that make a big difference, like headlamp fixation, removeable strap station and reflective elements.
